9 Ways You Can Incorporate Coconut Oil Into Your Daily Beauty Routine

Coconut oil is a potent, natural ingredient that has numerous benefits and uses. In today’s article we are going to list 9 uses of coconut oil that you can include in your beauty routine.

  1. Eye make-up remover.Waterproof mascara and other eye make-up often require an oil-based remover. ‘‘Prevention’’ says coconut oil works great to remove eye make-up. Simply put some on a cotton ball and swipe it over your eyes. Your body’s heat will melt the oil, and the make-up will come off easily.
  2. Body butter. You can make your own body butter by mixing shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, and your favorite essential oil together according to Dr.Axe.
  3. Hair mask. For deep conditioning, try a coconut oil hair mask. ‘‘Made 2 Style’’ says to start with your hair dry and massage 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil through your hair, working it through all the way to the ends. Pin your hair on top of your head and wrap it in a towel and let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes. Then wash your hair thoroughly.
  4. Lip balm.Chapped lips are painful, so put your coconut oil to work. You can just mash some into an empty lip balm container, or you can create your own like ‘‘Coconut Mama’’. In a double boiler, melt 3 tablespoons coconut oil and 2 tablespoons beeswax pastilles. Add 1/2 teaspoon honey, 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil and 20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Pour it into empty lip balm containers and let it harden.
  5. Cuticle cream.‘‘Kids activities blog’’recommends making your own cuticle cream. In a double boiler, melt 2 teaspoons beeswax, 2 teaspoons shea butter and 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil. Add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil and pour into a cuticle tin.
  6. Body scrub. You can exfoliate and moisturize all at the same time. Dr. Axe recommends mixing sugar and coconut oil together. It makes a great scrub for any part of your body.
  7. Moisturizer.Putting moisturizer on after a bath or shower is important to keeping your skin healthy. ‘‘Prevention’’ says to just slather on the coconut oil straight.
  8. Deodorant. ‘‘Allure’’ swears by a homemade deodorant made of coconut oil, arrowroot powder, cornstarch, baking soda, and a scented oil.
  9. Night cream.Dr.Oz recommends putting coconut oil on your face at night for extra moisturizing to the skin. You can also put it on your hands for deep hydrating there, too.
